Sharon Baier

Graphite Artist

Sharon first began sketching in the spring of 2017. She started on a whim after taking a one hour class on learning how to draw. Within five months Sharon won her first award in a local art show. She then connected with another artist who helped her understand and learn more about the tools and techniques of sketching.

Sharon’s first love is drawing the faces of animals, where she finds joy in relaying the character and emotion portrayed in her subjects’ eyes. She also creates landscapes using graphite and watercolor wash, and a number of these have won awards in shows. Her original works are now in collections across the country.

Sharon was born and raised in Ohio, and earned her Bachelor’s & Master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University. Her career centered around Human Resources management and consulting in Organization Behavior, nationally and internationally. Sharon retired in 2008 and she and her husband moved back to Holmes County, Ohio. Sharon is very active in volunteering at her church, the retirement community where they live, and the German Culture Museum.
