Pat Wietholter

Contemporary Artist

Raised in a rural area of Virginia on a secluded generational family farm, Pat’s childhood offered her much time to fill creatively. There were no siblings to play with, with her only brother grown and out of the nest.

Pat’s mother, noticing some artistic potential and tiring of hearing Pat complain of boredom, purchased a tablet and some watercolors with which she proceeded to offer Pat inspiration by painting her best version of a single red rose. That was Pat’s jump start into the world of art and the rest as they say, is history.

Pat completed only one year as a Fine Art Major in college, so she prefers to see herself as painting intuitively from a God given talent, and would comfortably fit into the category of self-taught artist rather than a formally educated artist.

Pat’s husband and her particularly enjoy searching out rural areas that have that special vibe and strong character that reads well in paintings. They work well together; Stan enjoys driving new territory and that leaves Pat free to scope out the terrain. They have traveled extensively all over the US doing this but find they are particularly drawn to Amish country in Ohio and Indiana. There they find a peaceful and comforting atmosphere on the backdrop of today’s social unrest. It is Pat’s aim to express this graceful comfort in the feel of her work.

Peaceful scenes from Amish Country-

It is my joy and pleasure to climd the stairs to my little art studio over our garage as often as possible. The excitement of a new idea, paints and a blank canvas hasn’t faded yet, and I suspect it never will.
