Yaupon

Notes: Sweet, complex, subtly roasted, and earthy. This tea has a natural balance of smooth and sweet.

 History: Highly regarded by Native Americans for its purifying and remedial properties, yaupon is the only caffeinated plant native to North America. It is found across the Southeast, and became an alternative to British tea during the Revolutionary War. Yaupon was most likely one of the plants the American Militia Army brewed in camp while evading the British in the swamps of South Carolina.

 Brew: 4-5 minutes with 195 degree water
