This is one of those pieces that sat around the studio for weeks until I picked it up and started scraping to see what species of wood it was. As I scraped away the dirt and wood the hawk simply began to emerge. As I continued to help the hawk appear while trying to leave the piece as much in its natural state as possible, the sculptures of Mt. Rushmore came to mind.
