During the French and Indian War of 1755 – 1763 (The Seven Years War) both European combatants England and France relied on Native alliances for support and manpower.

The various tribes were far more than pawns, however, as they had their own agendas in the conflicts between foreign powers. Many also saw the conflict as a moment in time to gain dominance over historic enemies. The dark virgin forests of early America became the scene of countless confrontations.
