Artist Statement:

This is the brief story of Eagle.

I've always drawn animals, but my large atmospheric pieces have dominated my exhibitions for decades. Animals are hidden within the clouds and atmosphere of those pieces.

I was without a working studio for two years. When it was time to begin again, my inner voice told me to "bring the animals forward." So I did. I wanted to see through the eyes of creatures who trusted their instincts. I was doubting my own observations.

The Eagle isn't quaffed, he's seen some troubles. He's electric with focus, instinctual drive, and decisive action. Qualities I was seeking in myself.

The background is purple, a union of red and blue. The Eagle represents every American- yet this is something living eagles are completely unaware of and could care less about.

Purple is also the color of higher consciousness, nobility and integrity.

The lines running through the purple are a nod to the matrix and the constant stream of programming that keeps us alarmed and out of touch with our true nature.

This eagle says, "Let the program run. I will not be shaken."

Such an amazing creature. The further I went within the drawing the more I felt honored and humbled by this animal.
